6th Lincolnshire Reg.

keer terug

The bad weather which persisted during the operations of the 4th of October continued, but at 5.20 a.m., on the 9th the attack was renewed on a front of over six miles, from east of Zonnebeke to the junction of the British and French Armies north-west of Langemarck. In this battle the 6th, 7th and 10th Battalions were in the area engaged on various duties.
The 11th Division fought its way forward in the face of great opposition to the eastern outskirts of Poelcapelle village ; the 6th Lincolnshire of the 33rd Brigade on the 9th of October moved up in support of the 32nd Brigade, which had suffered heavy casualties. The 6th was not, however, called upon to attack the enemy and, after two days in shell-holes under heavy fire, they were withdrawn on the night of the 10th/11th to Irish Farm (Boezinge).
